What is IDEATE?

"Innovating the Ordinary" is the identity theme of our competition series, aimed at challenging university students in Singapore to envision and create innovative solutions that enhance everyday living.

Each year, participants will focus on transforming ordinary tasks into streamlined, efficient processes through mechatronic systems. This theme encourages creativity, hands-on learning, and the development of impactful ideas that address real-world challenges in daily life.

What does "future home" mean?

"Innovating the Ordinary" invites university students from Singapore to envision and create innovative solutions that enhance everyday living.

With the theme "Future Home Edition," participants will focus on transforming ordinary household tasks into streamlined, efficient processes through mechatronic** systems. This competition aims to inspire creativity, foster hands-on learning, and generate impactful ideas that address real-world challenges within the home environment.

**Mechatronics systems integrate mechanical systems with electronics and software to create more functional and efficient products and processes.

IDEATE 2024 is open to University students from all disciplines and years of study.
Nope! In fact, we encourage you to form interdisciplinary teams for this makeathon, to maximise your chances in the technical, design and business aspects.
As this event is mainly targeted towards University undergraduates, do write in to our email to see how we may accomodate you!
We provide comprehensive workshops and mentorship to guide you through the process, so no prior experience is necessary.

This makeathon lasts for 5 weeks and has a few compulsory sessions/workshops, but your level of involvement is entirely up to you.
You will be forming a team of 3-5 members, but if you are joining individually or as a pair, we can help you form teams with other participants as well.
